EMPLOYMENT LAW

Employees

Types of claim we can help with :

  • Dismissal
  • Work Related Stress or Injury at Work
  • Redundancy
  • Bullying or Harassment at work
  • Discrimination
  • Minimum Wage
  • Breach of Contractual terms
  • Maternity Rights

What will it cost?

There are several ways to fund a claim :

Legal expenses insurance - Many people are unaware they benefit from this type of insurance because it is often included in house, buildings or car insurance. Have you checked your household or car insurance?

Hourly rates - Depending on the seniority of the Solicitor acting for you. We are happy to discuss our rates and provide an estimate of the total cost.

Fixed fee - Where appropriate we will consider a fixed fee for particular types of work, for example drafting a claim form.

No win no fee - If we believe that you have a winnable case we can offer you what is known as a contingency fee agreement. This is a no win, no fee agreement, the terms of which mean we are paid out of any damages awarded by the Tribunal or negotiated with the other side.

Time Limits :

In most employment claims there is a time limit of 3 months in which to lodge a claim with a Tribunal. It is therefore vital that advice is obtained early.

Employers

Contentious work

We can represent you in all matters listed above.

Non-contentious work

In addition we can draft contracts of employment, disciplinary procedures, staff handbooks and compromise agreements.

What will it cost me?

We will charge our hourly rates or negotiate a fixed fee for both contentious and non-contentious work.

Compromise Agreements

This is a contract between the employer and employee ending the contract of employment by mutual agreement. The employee must get the advice of an independent solicitor on the content of the agreement before signing it and making it binding. Most agreements provide that the employer will pay a contribution to the employee's legal costs in obtaining this advice. We can draft agreements for employers or advise on content for employees.
